Praise for Invest in Renfrewshire after another successful training and recruitment event
PAISLEY construction firm CGC has praised the ongoing job creation drive in Renfrewshire.
City Gate Construction – currently Renfrewshire’s Employer of the Year – attended a jobs and training event run by Invest In Renfrewshire last week.
The well-attended occasion was held at the Tannahill Centre and CGC was among the exhibitors.
Invest In Renfrewshire is Renfrewshire Council’s programme to boost the local economy and tackle unemployment.
Commenting on its work CGC Director Ronnie McDowell who attended the Tannahill event said: “Invest in Renfrewshire are doing a great job. The event CGC attended shows that Invest in
Renfrewshire is working at grass roots level to fight unemployment and work with others to enhance job opportunities for Renfrewshire people.
“Of particular note is the effort being put into helping apprentices – something CGC is strongly committed to. Our apprenticeship programme has been going for many years and crucially, most apprentices end up staying with the firm.”
“Few things are more important that giving young women and young men a helping hand onto the jobs ladder and providing them with solid training on which they can build their careers.”
CGC used the Tannahill occasion to engage with other employers and training providers and to share their experience of working with apprentices.
CGC has been on an almost-permanent recruitment drive in the last year due to its success in winning orders for refurbishment and construction work across the UK.
It said Invest in Renfrewshire had become an essential part of the local economy because it was “leading the way” in helping local employers source new staff and work with others to reduce the unemployment rate locally.
Ronnie added:
“Invest in Renfrewshire has been particularly successful in reducing youth unemployment and that doesn’t come without a clear strategy and sheer hard work. We’re pleased to be playing our part in supporting that effort.”
CGC is a long-standing supporter of the Paisley 2021 drive which if successful, will provide a vital shot in the arm for the local economy.
Ronnie added:
“Winning this bid will undoubtedly provide Paisley and Renfrewshire with increased exposure which in turns benefits the economy. More people will come here, spend money in the shops and that can only help.”
